HANNOVER MESSE: “Perfect moment for comeback event”
Surface technology is relevant to all sectors of industry. All those who are interested in innovative surface cleaning and coating techniques should head straight for the SurfaceTechnology Area in Hall 5 at HANNOVER MESSE.
Hannover. Surface technology plays a decisive role in modern production processes and is therefore high up on the agenda at HANNOVER MESSE. Every two years the SurfaceTechnology Area forms an integral part of the Industrial Supply trade show – as will be the case from 1 to 5 April 2019. “High-tech surface treatment has earned a rightful place at HANNOVER MESSE,” explains Olaf Daebler, Global Director Industrial at Deutsche Messe AG. “Special-purpose coatings transform the physical properties of materials and prevent wear. This is relevant to users across all industrial sectors.” The SurfaceTechnology Area in Hall 5 focuses on the following topics: parts cleaning and pre-treatment; electroplating; painting; abrasive blasting; industrial plasma treatment; measuring, testing and analysis; and related services.
In 2019 the SurfaceTechnology Area will include a group presentation mounted by the German Mechanical Engineering Association VDMA and five of its member companies (Auer, Heimer, Krautzberger, Rump and WiWa). These enterprises will showcase innovative solutions in the areas of paint coating and abrasive blasting. Alongside key issues such as energy efficiency and resource conservation, digitization is a hot topic among small and medium-sized surface technology enterprises. On Monday 1 April the SurfaceTechnology Area will focus on an initiative launched by the VDMA with the aim of standardizing machine-to-machine communication in the surface technology segment. Deutsche Messe AG has pledged its support to the kick-off meeting of the joint working group of the VDMA OPC Surface Technology Initiative. “We very much welcome the interest of Deutsche Messe in this topic, which is so important to industry,” confirms Dr. Martin Riester, a member of the VDMA’s surface technology team. “Together with the OPC Foundation we will advance digitization in the field of surface technology. We are happy to have Deutsche Messe as a strong partner at our side.” Following the kick-off of the joint working group, further enterprises are expected to join this project. The VDMA OPC Surface Technology Initiative focuses on the interoperability of machines, installations and devices, as well as their interaction with peripherals and production management systems.
The VDMA group presentation will also centre on EN16985, the new European safety standard for paint spraying booths. In addition, work is commencing at an international level on the formulation of a new ISO safety standard for abrasive blasting installations.
The Industrial Supply Forum in Hall 4 will be the central venue for networking and knowledge transfer at HANNOVER MESSE 2019. Surface technology will figure prominently in the forum program on Thursday morning (4 April), when the lectures will get to grips with issues such as innovative nanotechnology, surface treatment and industrial plasma technology.
In 2019 HANNOVER MESSE will take place under the programmatic motto “Integrated Industry – Industrial Intelligence” – in other words, the digital networking of man and machine in the light of artificial intelligence. Among other issues, the spotlight will be on lightweight design – as evidenced in the 1st Lightweighting Summit initiated by the German Federal Government. Lightweight design solutions will be concentrated in Hall 5 – i.e. in the immediate vicinity of the SurfaceTechnology Area . The exhibitors will showcase lightweight design as a high-tech discipline which is directly relevant to all industrial processes and materials. The Integrated Lightweight Plaza will once again provide a central hotspot. Strong synergies will exist with other exhibit categories in Hall 5 – for example, smart materials, adhesive bonding and joining techniques, and digital factory solutions. The line-up in Halls 5 and 6 will also include blockchain technology and industrial security, engineering software, cloud solutions, platforms and services, virtual reality and additive manufacturing. In 2019 Sweden will be the official Partner Country of HANNOVER MESSE.
The SurfaceTechnology Area alternates with the Stuttgart-based trade fair SurfaceTechnology GERMANY (formerly known as O&S). In June 2018 this event attracted more than 6,000 visitors. Whereas SurfaceTechnology GERMANY is an established meeting-place and trend-setting forum, the exhibitors in Hannover have an opportunity to reach a diverse, international audience under the umbrella of the world’s largest industrial technology show. All the sectors represented at HANNOVER MESSE use surface technology in one form or another. Fifty percent of the visitors to the SurfaceTechnology Area come from the manufacturing sector. The largest visitor groups have their roots in mechanical and plant engineering, electrical engineering, electronics and the automotive sector, followed by aerospace, metalworking and plastics.
